This image felt very important to share. This is a reshare from a post in our private Facebook support group but we’ve added in some thoughts to the post from when we originally shared it. It feels important to get the message out for everyone and dispel a common misconception about how ‘goddess-like’ our hypnotherapist is 😉. So many people are struggling and as is our main goal with Perspective, we just want to help where we can, and today, share some hope that those struggles are not forever.
The image credit goes to @positivelypresent – it’s not one of our own – why recreate something when the original is perfect?! Her site has lots of resources and items that you might find helpful – worth checking out. (No, we’re not affiliated or anything, we just found her site from the image and wanted to ensure we gave appropriate credit) 🙌 Hey Dani, nice to ‘meet’ you!
It appears like the message of life and our emotions being up and down, is one that most people know, but often just dismiss or forget. It’s really important to note this and ensure that we all actually take it on board. It really allows self compassion and the love that we really need when those lower times come. Since we’re not always going to be 100% happy, bouncing around the world, everything being 10/10 amazing all the time, we really need to remember that it won’t last and it is perfectly normal – not a sign that we’re broken, going backwards* or some other reason that our cheeky mind might create.
It can actually be useful to look at it another way… If we didn’t know what hardship, hurt or pain felt like, we wouldn’t know what ease, happiness or freedom felt like. Annoying? Perhaps so. But I think there’s truth in it. If we had things just one way… either always happy, always miserable or somewhere in the middle, it would eventually become very dull and we wouldn’t ever have anything to look forward to. (I say eventually because I think it would take us time to get bored of happiness all the time lol)
“Pain is inevitable, suffering is not.”
Attributed to various people but it seems to be mostly credited to either the Dalai Lama, Haruki Murakami, or M. Kathleen Casey.
I heard the above quote this week, I half like it. (You can ask me another time which bit I don’t like lol) and I would like to challenge myself and all of you, to consider if we choose to stay ‘suffering’ or not. (Ouch!
Naughty woman on the internet offering thought provoking challenges!!!) Are we choosing to ‘suffer?’ Do we let ourselves sit in that wallowing, self-pity party?’ This isn’t to make any of us feel guilty, it’s here for our consideration – in no way a judgement, there is TOTALLY a time for just sitting down and feeling sorry for ourselves, sometimes life is POOP and we are allowed to acknowledge that, rather than ignoring it.
One thing we think about in our hypnotherapy service, is where we want to be or what we want things to look like. (Or something more relevant to the individual) In a very lose sense, we scale ourselves 1 – 10 on where we’re at; 1 perhaps being not where we want to be, 10 being spot on, nailed it. Now, please don’t be confused or misled, 10 doesn’t mean we’re fixed and nothing will ever harm, sadden or happen to us ever again… The 10 would be about how successful we are or how we are coping amid life happening. It can be interesting to see over the course of sessions where we’re at and how we’re doing. It is definitely attainable and achievable. (Plus, it feels really good to use as one of the markers for how we’re doing each week) Yes, it goes up and down – that’s part of life – we’re not striving for a perfect 10. By using this scaling method, over time, we see a progression and gain an understanding of ourselves; how we manage, learning about our needs and accepting them. It is really helpful on our journey.

Do I always scale myself at a 10? HECK NO! I am not the meditating, calm, yoga-posing-by-a-lake, serene, goddess-like woman that some clients think I am… 🧘♀️😉🤣 I am real. I live life just like everyone else, not exempt from the hardships that life brings.
However, I have the same choice as you all do… To sit and suffer (and sometimes that is ok – one word – donuts!) But I don’t stay there!!! We can choose to rise up and make things happen. This isn’t easy, but it is doable. Sometimes we might just need a helping hand to give us a little pull up to get started.
We, at Perspective, always want to show that we’re not perfect, not on a different level. We’re the same as you, navigating this crazy life. We want to share that it is possible to be real and do well; to struggle with health, fitness, diet, etc… and still do well. We are always here and the Facebook group is open to all to use for questions and support. And if things are feeling a bit tricky to navigate at the moment, we have services available that will help.
Our initial consultation for hypnotherapy and coaching at £30, is really informative and offers you the chance to see where your difficulties/issues come from, what hypnotherapy is, how it works, and gives you knowledge on how you can start to move forward. There is no obligation to book any further therapy sessions at all, this session alone might just give you that ‘helping hand pull up’ to get going yourself.
Do talk to us, we can look at ways to help you get access to what you need.
Whether it’s a normal week for you or you’re off for the school Easter break, I wish you happiness, love and peace.
With love,
Lu. x
*Obviously there may be occasions where we may be needing to look at our mental health, and it is important to get help as needed. We need to ensure that we listen to ourselves, talk with a trusted person and maybe see our GP if needed, so that we can keep ourselves well. I’m just meaning that for some people, particularly those who have had difficulties with mental health in the past, it can be all too easy to think that we are ‘unstable again’ and not as well as we thought we were. Hopefully, you can see what I mean.
